Quimper prepares for 2002 Celtic Film Festival
Preparations are well underway for this year's Celtic Film and Television Festival (CFTF) to be held in Quimper, Brittany on March 21 to 23.
The festival will be staged in the Théâtre de Cornouaille and the Chapeau Rouge Cinema complex close by which has two screening theatres and varied reception areas. The festival will run from 10am to 5pm over the three days.
The four-day event will feature a number of gala screenings which have yet to be confirmed, plus an awards ceremony for the competition which this year recieved 88 entrants from across the Celtic regions. There will also be a series of seiminars lead by industry experts and a variety of exhibitions, tours and concerts.
The event is an annual celebration of broadcasting and film talent and excellence from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall and Brittany. The programme includes the Celtic Film and Broadcasting Awards for drama, documentary, animation films, screenings and keynote addresses, debate and discussion. It is also an opportunity for producers, directors, commissioning editors, film executives, media students, distributors and schedulers to meet and exchange ideas.
The CFTF’s aim is to promote the languages and cultures of the Celtic countries on screen and in broadcasting. The CFTF is supported by broadcast, film, cultural and economic development organisations throughout the Celtic countries.
The CFTF exists to promote the cultures and languages of the Celtic countries in film on television, radio and new media. The CFTF is also in a position to offer a distinctive view of the media industry that may otherwise be underrepresented.
