Cartoon's ETNA training network is set up
Cartoon, with the support of the Media Plus Programme of the European Community, have recently set into motion the European Training Network for Animation (ETNA).
The ETNA operation so far includes nine top European professional animation training centres and around 40 European animation studios.
The network is designed to enhance European animation training, encourage and better the links between animation training and industry requirements. Mirroring the US's Labour Mobility measure, the initiative hopes to facilitate the mobility of European professionals throughout the European marketplace.
The network includes the following European professional animation training centres: the Animation Workshop (Viborg), EMCA (Angoulême), Fakd'Art (Barcelona), the German Film School for Digital Production (Elstal), Gobelins and l'Ecole de l'Image (Paris), ILOI (Ile de la Réunion), La Poudrière, Ecole du Film d'Animation (Valence), the Scuola Nazionale di Cinema (Rome) and the University of the West of England and Bristol Animation Courses (Bristol).
Beyond the animation training programmes, ETNA partner training centres are in close relation with European animation studios for the organisation of internships for their trained professionals. This connection will allow a constant interaction between training and an industry in constant technological evolution.
