Eurosport select Quartz for new control room

Quartz recently supplied a QMC Master Control Switcher to Eurosport for use at its main facility in Paris.
Reaching over 250 million viewers in 54 countries, Eurosport is the most widely available channel across Europe and broadcasts its programmes in 18 European languages.
The QMC system from Quartz is currently employed for a new control room dedicated to special programming and regional inserts for German Eurosport.
The Quartz solution was installed by Quartz French Distributor, LTRT, and includes two Q32 routing switchers, a 32x8 stereo audio router and a Q32 serial video router, used for upstream switching from the QMC. The whole system is controlled by a Harris (Louth) automation system.
Eurosport's Head of Engineering, Vincent Gerard-Hirne, selected the Quartz QMC for its flexible operation: "It is ideal for automated presentation and gives us a sense of security with its manual intervention capabilities. The preview channel is great as it lessens the margin for error when a programme goes to air and we were also confident in Quartz's proven ability to interface to third party equipment.
'The QMC also has optional integrated features, such as logos and extra keyers. We selected the Analogue Audio option, which adds analogue to the existing AES and Embedded capability on both the Programme/Preset and stereo voice over inputs. Wipe transitions and a DVE option can also be added in the same 3U unit, giving a very compact solution."
