First displayLA hailed as success

The First Annual displayLA Conference and Showcase - produced by United Entertainment Media (UEM) and the Hollywood Post Alliance (HPA) - was the latest Hollywood success story, as more than 600 leading entertainment professionals attended two days of conferences and technology showcases.
In addition, capacity crowds turned out for displayLA's two special off-site events: an exclusive Robert Rodriguez Q&A at Sony Picture Studios and a digital screening of "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" at the Hollywood Pacific Theater, the following night.
More than 250 people attended the special Robert Rodriguez session, sponsored by Sony and Texas Instruments. Rodriguez, the director of the "Spy Kids" series of films, "El Mariachi," "Desperado" and "From Dusk Till Dawn," showed selected scenes from his latest effort, "Once Upon a Time in Mexico," to a capacity crowd at the Cary Grant Theater on the Sony Pictures lot. The next evening more than 300 attendees took advantage of an exclusive digital screening of Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl."
The two-day displayLA event, which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, featured exhibits of the latest monitor/projector technologies from many of the world's leading manufacturers including Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Visual Solutions/NEC, Texas Instruments, Electrograph, QuVis, Opticomm, Wacom, Creative Technology and Dynascan. In addition, a technology conference, directed and developed by the HPA, featured presentations and roundtable discussions from leaders in the monitor/projection industry.
