Curious Software a success for TV Valencia

Spanish television station, TV Valencia, has revamped its existing system for creating world maps for broadcast with an investment in Curious World Maps v2.0, from Curious Software.
Previously TV Valencia had been relying on Quantel based machines for its news and weather transmissions, a system that proved limited, as it had no database, external updates or existing graphic files. This left no other choice than the time consuming task of extracting images from books and atlases by camera, which did not always provide a satisfactory outcome.
TV Valencia, a member of the comunidad Valencia community, own five large studios and two smaller rooms and employ a team of over 2500. As well as using Curious World Maps for it local news and weather broadcasts, TV Valencia has also utilised the software during its commercial programme schedule, which includes quiz shows, magazine programmes and reality shows.
Thierry Gonzalo, head of operations for the engineering department at TV Valencia, has been impressed by the results of the new software in terms of both its practicality of use and the final graphic images produced, he says; "Its not just the graphics, it also provides a huge database and is both fast and easy to use."
TV Valencia first became aware of Curious World Maps at an IBC trade show four years ago. The decision to invest came after demonstration of the software and its extensive features.
TV Valencia is now made up of two buildings, the main being in Valencia itself and the new station, recently built in Alicante.
