Camera Corps' Q3 At GTC AGM

News Image
The Guild of Television Cameramen is returning to the grounds of Aynho Park in Oxfordshire on Sunday May 18 for its 42nd Annual General Meeting and GTC Awards Day.

The event is to include presentations of the GTC Television Cameraman's Award ('TiCA'), the Mike Baldock Award, Seals of Approval for equipment innovation and Awards for Excellence. A full list of 2014 GTC Awards nominations can be seen here.
The GTC Awards will be presented between 19:00 and 21:00 BST by Sky Television's Jeremy Thompson. As Guest of Honour, Mr Thompson will also speak in support of the role of cameramen and women in television. One of the nominations is for Sky News cameraman Mick Deane, who was killed while filming in Egypt last year.
The event will be streamed for members via the GTC's website using three Camera Corps Q3 robotic pan/tilt/zoom camera heads together with a Sony PMW-500. The Q3 heads will be controlled from a single camera operator position, providing shots of the lectern, presentation and audience.
"We are very grateful to Camera Corps, both for being the major sponsor this year and for the loan of the Q3 heads," comments GTC Event Organiser, James French. "The Q3 will help us maximise the potential of a relatively small venue. It allows up to 90 remote cameras to be controlled by a very small creative team. Each Q3 head incorporates a 20:1 lens and comes complete with fully motorised pan, tilt and zoom functions and cue light. It can be connected via fibre, cable or IP."
Other sponsors supporting the event are Aerial Vue, Alan Wells Camera Services, Blue Skies Partnership, Dan Greenway, Iainiro, John Rossetti Lighting, Panasonic, Polecam, Portaprompt, Presteigne Broadcast Hire, Stryder TV, Tiffen, Videosys, VMI and Zest4TV.
The event is free to GTC members. Guest tickets are available at £20. Full details can be found here.
