BBC English Regions order generationQ news systems

BBC English Regions (BBC ER) have placed an order for two of Quantel's generationQ news systems.
Quantel's generationQ is a new concept in news systems and is one of the industry's only truly scalable server available, from local to international broadcasting scale.
GenerationQ is one of the only systems to offer a scalable, common timeline-editing interface from Browse to Craft Edit, adding extra options for journalists and picture editors alike. It is also one of the only systems to offer fully integrated news system functionality and productivity within the budgets of every news provider.
The generationQ systems will be installed at the BBC's Norwich and Leeds regional news operations. In addition, BBC ER has taken options on a further three systems for other regions.
The order, placed through systems integrator Dega Systems Ltd, of Basingstoke, is part of the BBC's plan to re-equip all of their regional news operations with server-based systems over the next three years.
The generationQ systems chosen are centred around the new sQ Server with 11 connected PC workstations running versions of the new QEdit progressive software.
Five of these PC workstations are powered-up with Quantel video i/o and image processing hardware to boost performance for craft editing.
