QUANTEL HEADS MAJOR NEWS SYSTEMS SUPPLIERS

LEADING developer and supplier of self-contained, individual post production systems, Quantel, have now established themselves as one of the major players in the digital news system market, with over 60 sites worldwide.
These cover a variety and scale of news operations, but all benefit from improved efficiency and faster-to-air news programming in broadcast environments ranging from local to international providers.
The Inspiration System in use at ITN in London, was the first integrated news system to offer journalists the ability to edit video alongside scripts on their desktops.
Serving three national channels and its own 24-hour news service, the Inspiration system at ITN supports over 250 journalists, all sharing the same material, and all able to put their stories to air the second they are completed on the desktop.
Quantel claim that the success at ITN has been noted by other broadcasters looking for similar, totally integrated news operations.
Inspiration systems are currently being installed at KOMO TV in Seattle, USA, TRT in Turkey, BskyB Newsactive in London and TSR in Switzerland.
