Fox select OmniTek for detailed laboratory work

Test and measurement manufacturer OmniTek have announced that major US broadcaster Fox, via their Fox Digital Television Laboratory, have purchased and installed OmniTek’s OmniGen test and measurement solution.
OmniGen is an advanced, PC-based multi-format test signal generator that supports all HD and SD formats. The deal was concluded and overseen by OmniTek’s US dealer MPro.
Fox’s DTV Laboratory, part of the New Technology Group, examines new technology solutions in detail prior to deciding how useful they are and whether they should be recommended for deployment by the broadcaster. This process can involve detailed specifications checks and always requires a high level of accuracy.
Fox needed to upgrade their legacy equipment to conduct these key tasks more quickly and efficiently, and as part of that upgrading required the ability to define its own test signals. This led Jim DeFilippis, VP of television engineering with the New Technology Group, to OmniTek. He said: “The feature that really placed the OmniGen ahead of other possibilities is that we can really create test patterns or capture images and import them as graphics files. We can now capture signals and then use the OmniGen as a still store.”
