HBO Films open London branch

HBO Films have opened a London-based international sales and distribution outfit, headed by sales veterans Penny Wolf and Rosa Bosch.
Wolf and Bosch will be co-managing directors of HBO Films London, which will continue a theatrical sales push into all territories for HBO Films-produced features.
The move comes in a year during which HBO have revised their strategy on theatrical distribution both in the US market and internationally. Under HBO Films president Colin Callender, the network made their first US theatrical deal last year, teaming with Newmarket Films to distribute 'Real Women Have Curves', which grossed over $5m.
Callender said: "The HBO Films movie slate is broad and eclectic, and we are increasingly attracting filmmakers who have a real profile internationally. Penny and Rosa bring a unique combination of experience to HBO, which will enable us to handle the sales and marketing of our films in an innovative and non-traditional way."
