Discreet users sweep best visual effects Oscar nominations

Discreet have revealed that all nominated films for the Academy Award for Achievement in Visual Effects used Discreet’s industry-leading inferno and flame visual effects compositing systems.
The Oscar nominated films 'The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers', 'Spider-Man', and 'Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones' represent the tremendous creative skill of today’s digital artists, and the advanced capabilities of the visual effects technology that they employ. For the last eight years, Discreet technology has been a part of more than 95 percent of the nominated films for best visual effects, including last year’s winner, 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring'.
"Enabling visual effects artists to realize their most ambitious vision is our primary objective," said Paul Lypaczewski, general manager of Discreet and executive vice president of Autodesk. "Once again, the work submitted for the consideration of the Academy makes us proud to be involved with these incredible individuals and teams. Discreet applauds the artistic and technical skill of all the postproduction facilities that have been honoured with the Academy Award nomination."
