Scottish Students on Screen event 'bigger and better than ever'

Over 150 entries from universities and colleges the length and breadth of Scotland are today competing for the coveted nine awards at the fourth Scottish Students on Screen Festival taking place in Dundee.
Media students were asked to submit work, done during their degree course, in a range of areas such as animation, fiction, factual, no boundaries (where the sky is the limit as far as imagination goes) and cinematography. Nine prizes are on offer at the event and this year each category has been closely contested.
Scott Donaldson, Scottish Screen's Education Officer, said: "We are delighted with the high standard of the entries we have received this year and also the fact that we have had entries from an even wider range of institutions than ever before, including lots of FE colleges. Our juries of industry professionals really had their work cut out choosing the best from among such a wealth of talent. The event itself is also increasing in size every year as more and more colleges and universities submit work and enable their students to attend. Scottish Students on Screen has gained a considerable reputation in education circles as we make sure that the student delegates get to meet and benefit from the experience of serious industry players at seminars and career sessions during the very full day."
The Scottish Students on Screen awards ceremony, the final part of the Festival, takes place at 6.30 pm today and is being hosted by Iain Crooks, MD of 4 Minute Wonders and Stuart Cosgrove, Channel 4's Head of Nations and Regions and the popular presenter of BBC Scotland's 'Off the Ball'.
