FCP X: Professional Solutions Seminars At BVE

A set of training seminars are to be rolled out in a bid to help industry professionals make the leap to filebased workflows.
Soho Editors Training will be running a series of seminars at BVE that will dispel the myths and demonstrate the next generation of editing tools totally immersed in the professionals' workflows.
The industry has moved rapidly to file based workflows over the last few years, but not everyone has made the leap just yet.
So this move comes at the same time as a lot of discussions around the suitability of Final Cut Pro X (FCP X)for Professionals. According to Soho Editors, editors are now adopting it as a broadcast viable NLE following a number of releases demonstrating the speed of development now that FCP X is available on the Mac App Store.
Soho Editors however said:"Many editors, post-houses and broadcasters still own libraries of tapes and existing Final Cut Pro (FCP) projects that they need to revisit.
"We will be showing how easy it is to capture from tapeless formats, load-in existing FCP 7 projects to FCP X and finish using high-end grading, effects and audio systems, including DaVinci’s Resolve."
Working with partners Arri, Canon, Square Box Systems and Blackmagic Design; Soho Editors Training will demonstrate and educate you on realistic workflows, seamless ingesting from high end camera formats, managing your projects through a digital asset management solution, editing with FCP X, grading with DaVinci’s Resolve, broadcast delivery and finally archive and back-up options.
Brian Cantwell, MD at Soho Editors said:"We will be running a continuous 2 hour seminar, 3 times a day on the Tuesday and Wednesday and twice on the Thursday. For accessibility, we have broken it down into 6 modules so visitors can drop in for the part they want to see. If you’re just interested in how easy is it to use your old FCP 7 projects in FCP X, than there’s plenty of time for the rest of the show as individual modules only last between 15 and 40 minutes."
He also added: "I believe this will be the first time anyone has put all this together as a joined up workflow. We are very excited by FCP X and the potential it unlocks. A 64 bit software environment means so much more than just numbers; it means super fast storage solutions like Thunderbolt, background rendering and a whole lot more."
