SIS LIVE Expand Their Presence In The Middle East Market

Outside broadcast, uplink and product design specialist SIS LIVE has announced sales of their in-house designed and built product range into the Middle East Market.
After a competitive tender process, SIS LIVE were selected by Sky News Arabia (SNA) to supply multiple flyaway systems and ongoing technical support for key parts of their contribution services across the Middle East and North Africa. They have also been selected to provide additional remote control fixed links in key regional bureau locations, including a 1.2m Tr-uPod.
In addition to the sale of products, SIS LIVE have also secured part of the satellite capacity requirements for SNA. The company have significantly increased their satellite pool with premium fixed Intelsat and Eutelsat space, and will be supplying a significant amount of additional capacity for SNA’s contribution feeds in the Middle East territory.
Sky News Arabia is a new, free-to-air Arabic-language news channel which will launch to viewers across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in Spring 2012. Based in Abu Dhabi, Sky News Arabia will operate under the Sky News brand, providing comprehensive coverage of the regional and international news agenda through a 24-hour channel offering rolling news and current affairs programming, as well as a video-rich website and mobile applications.
David Meynell, Managing Director, SIS LIVE said: "This is a strategically important deal for both parties and we are excited to confirm our venture into this important
territory. We are confident that this will open up new avenues to promote and sell our award-winning product range in the region and to other major broadcasters."
The SIS LIVE Tr-uPod uplink system for the Flyaways is an ideal solution to meet the requirements, having been developed specifically to meet the needs of broadcasters who want cost effective news gathering services. It is a flexible, compact satellite uplink system with tool-less assembly, available fully automated or with simple manual operation. All size antennas pack to IATA compliant cases which can be flown as standard airline baggage and easily carried over rough terrain. The robust, high stability tripod system can be set up within minutes and in automated mode, using SIS LIVE’s in-house differential antenna control system, will find any satellite in an instant.
Tr-uPod can also be used with SIS LIVE’s award winning control software and interface. This is available either as a 2 button system with a small display integrated onto the antenna base or using a plugin laptop. The automated operation offers absolute simplicity with maximum operability which allows unskilled operators to utilize and transmit to multiple satellites.
Lew Dias, Launch Design Specialist, Sky News Arabia said: "We saw SIS LIVE’s market leading satellite products at the IBC conference in Amsterdam and were extremely impressed with the technical capabilities, robust build and competitive pricing of the Tr-uPod flyaway system. These features, combined with the creditable reputation and extensive experience of SIS LIVE, made it the system of choice to meet our demanding requirements."
