BBC3 Frankenstein's Wedding Scoops Broadcast Award

Welsh TV facilities company NEP Cymru has announced that one of its major projects of 2011 has just scooped one of the industry's most prestigious awards.
At the Broadcast Awards in London, BBC Productions received Best Music Programme for its production - Frankenstein's Wedding, broadcast live from Kirkstall Abbey last Spring.
NEP Cymru technically managed the project for the production and supplied all its broadcast facilities as well as the majority of the crew. Tony Cahalane, Managing Director of NEP Cymru, was Technical Manager for Frankenstein's Wedding and oversaw every step of the complex technical planning process for the BBC.
Set in the haunting surroundings of the Abbey in Leeds, the unique BBC live event was a critically acclaimed re-imagining of Mary Shelley's gothic masterpiece, Frankenstein, through drama, dance and music. Frankenstein's Wedding....Live in Leeds was a collaboration between BBC Three, BBC North and BBC Cymru Wales with a cast of actors which included Andrew Gower, Lacey Turner and David Harewood.
The hugely ambitious, £1m multi-platform project was watched by 453,000 viewers, with repeats taking it to more than 1 million.The Broadcast Award judges dubbed it "innovative and epic, as well as visually exciting" and praised its "originality, ambition and boldness".
