BBC Broadcast helps rebrand BBC America

BBC Broadcast has been commissioned to refresh the on-air channel identity of BBC America, which will air from April 1.
BBC America has a strong audience share and has just scored a massive hit in the US with the ‘The Office’, which recently won two Golden Globe Awards, including best comedy television series.
BBC Broadcast’s main objective was to reinvigorate the current on-air look. A cohesive design was needed to work through all aspects of channel communication whilst complementing the existing on- air identity.
The refreshed look is intended to introduce a more contemporary and dynamic branded graphic flavour to promotions and trails across the channel. The revised house style branding builds upon and develops the station’s key visual elements, such as a dynamic use of white space, the colours of the Union Jack and contemporary typography to create an on-screen language that is original and truly owned by BBC America.
Jill Lindeman, Design Account Director, BBC Broadcast, said: “We liased closely with BBC America to reappraise the channel’s identity and formulate a creative design strategy. Overall the look has been created to be bold, confident and fresh. It sets out BBC America’s agenda as a real force in the market place and adds greater clarity and reward to the viewing experience for the channel’s sophisticated and discerning audience.”
