NFTS named as USAnimation centre of excellence

Pixelution, value-added IT Reseller to the Digital Media Industry in the UK have welcomed the National Film and Television School (NFTS), Beaconsfield, as a USAnimation centre of excellence.
The NTFS have recently installed USAnimation as their primary 2d animation tool for their postgraduate ‘Animation Director’ course. This continues to expand Toon Boom Technologies’ flagship product’s user base in the London educational sector.
Piers Godden, Pixelution’s Animation Product Manager, said: "We are very pleased that the National Film and Television School has chosen to install USAnimation. With a rapidly expanding client base, Pixelution and Toon Boom in Montreal were looking for another high-profile institution that was able to offer the high level of training that our clients expect and the NFTS seemed like the obvious choice.
"We are confident that we can offer them the high level of support that they expect and that they will use the software to produce innovative and original animation films," he said.
Gillian Lacey, Head of Animation Direction, NFTS, said: "We were very impressed by the look and feel of USAnimation and our students were extremely keen to use it on their final projects. They have already begun using USAnimation and are very excited about the possibilities it presents. We have high hopes for them and I look forward to seeing the results later in the year."
The NFTS benefits from a completely digital, 100% vector-based system using the latest technology to produce full-scale, resolution independent, 2d animation. Being the software of choice for most of the multi-national animation studios, USAnimation offers an extensive worldwide user base and the opportunity to attract overseas interest in training and co-production.
Pixelution, established in 1990, Pixelution have become one of the leading system integration companies serving the computer animation and post-production industries in the UK. Their product portfolio includes USAnimation, Jaleo Post Production System and Custom built high-end workstations, servers and renderfarms.
The National Film and Television School is a leading International centre for professional education in the Film and Television Industry, offering 2-year full-time MA courses in 10 specialisations and a wide range of short courses for freelancers.
