LA Critics Honour 2011 Film

Family drama, The Desendants, has bagged this year's best film award by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, whose prizes are an early influence on the way to the Academy Awards.
From Sideways director Alexander Payne, The Descendants stars ageing heartthrob George Clooney as a neglectful father in Hawaii.
Meanwhile Michael Fassbender has won the best actor award for various roles during his breakthrough year which included sex addict in Shame and mutant in X-men: First Class.
The critics' group passed over big Hollywood names to bestow its best-actress prize on Yun Jung-hee for the South Korean drama, Poetry.
Press shy filmmaker Terrence Malick was named best director for his epic family drama The Tree of Life, starring Brad Pitt while the directing runner-up was Martin Scorsese for his 3-D family adventure Hugo.
Johnny Depp's Western comedy Rangowas named as best animated film. Steven Spielberg's globe-trotting action tale The Adventures of Tintin was runner-up.
Also named by the American Film Institute were the best films of 2011 which included the female answer to The Hangover - Bridesmaids, The Descendants, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, 'The Help, Hugo, The Tree of Life and War Horse.
