Red team up with tech funk duo Layo & Bushwacka

Red, the Soho-based visual effects and post-production facility, have teamed up with the tech funk duo Layo and Bushwacka (XL Recordings) to create a number of animations and interpretations to go along with the musical set for their current tour.
DJ's and musicians Layo and Bushwacka approached Dan Williams at Red to develop the accompanying visual effects for their summer tour. The tour kicked off at Homelands, played at Glastonbury this weekend and will continue around the UK appearing at other major summer festivals.
Williams, along with other Red creative talents, Glyn Tebbutt, Tim Rudgard and Ally Burnett developed the concept and delivered the project.
The team used DV camera, photographic stills and photocopy scans as the basis for many of the ideas and animations. This was combined together with a mixture of After Effects, DS, Flame and Fire, to add the finishing touches to the work.
The Red work represents a mix of innovative and original ideas that are visual interpretations of each of the songs. The project allowed a freeform creativity on a long format canvas, as each of the songs is nine-minutes long.

We had complete freedom to produce what we felt best complemented the Layo & Bushwacka music and the end result is a compelling visual accompaniment of animations to match the music."
