University of York Chooses Trilogy's Orator
A global provider of intercom systems and Master Reference Generators to the broadcast industry, Trilogy Communications, has announced the installation of a 36 port Orator Intercom system with a range of rackmount and desktop control panels at the University of York.
Included in the system is integrated telephony provided by two dual PSTN hybrid interfaces, wireless talkback for up to eight floor personnel across each of the two full facility HD TV studios using Trilogy's DECTCOM duplex radio system and wireless monitoring for in vision presenters using a high quality UHF In Ear Monitoring (IEM) system.
Installed at the University of York, Department of Theatre, Film and Television this new facility provides ultimate resilience through the installation of a pair of Mentor XL Master Reference Generators and MasterMind automatic changeover units.
The Mentor XLs are configured to include HD test signals, and GPS locking and serve the buildings TV Studios and Post Production areas.
The systems were installed by systems integrator AVC to support the University's wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate media and digital television production courses at their expanded Heslington East campus.
The £750 million expansion at Heslington East and projects on the existing sites are the latest phase of the University of York's development of a 21st-century facility.
The system has been designed to allow links to and from the TV Studios, to and from the "Black Box" performance area, and the Theatre.
This has been achieved by integration of the Orator intercom into the theatres existing systems, which combined with flexible camera deployments, provides the ability to record live performances and other productions from the theatre.
The project was undertaken with extremely tight schedules which was one of the major factors that led AVC to select Trilogy; with a long history of projects together they had utmost confidence in both Trilogy and the Orator Intercom.
Jim Crothers, Manager Director - AVC Electronics Ltd, commented: "AVC has worked alongside Trilogy for many years delivering broadcast solutions in the UK and internationally - we are proud to be associated with the University of York on such a prestigious leading edge project."
