Trilogy supply central intercom system to TVNZ

Television New Zealand (TVNZ) have purchased Trilogy Broadcast Commander digital intercom equipment as a replacement for the original Auckland Centre studio talkback and inter-area communication system - improving capacity and flexibility throughout the facility.
The 180-port Commander matrix, with in-built expansion capable of providing up to 280 ports, will be housed in the main Central Apparatus Room, with the 72 custom and standard control panels utilised in all operational areas of the building - the desktop panels specifically for the news rooms and edit suites.
The new matrix will be one-fifth of the physical size of the previous installation - freeing up vital space in the building - and will also take a maximum of three weeks to install.
Extensive evaluation of the Trilogy system confirmed Commander as the most comprehensive and cost-effective solution to the requirement and, due to the tight timescales of the project, Trilogy delivered the units within two weeks of receiving the order from Television Systems Ltd (TSL).
TSL - the chosen systems integrator and equipment purchaser- are working with Trilogy on the pre-fabrication of the system in Maidenhead. The system will be immediately used for the Commonwealth Games in Manchester and to cover the Louis Vuitton Challenger in October 2002.
The tender also looked into the possibility of using VoIP technology in the future - linking Auckland with remote sites - and Trilogy's solution supported this requirement. The Mercury IP Communications System was launched at NAB 2002 and has been installed in top London facility VTR, as well as being proposed in various worldwide operations.
