Craft Freelances Invited To Network At MediaCityUK

Experienced freelances based in the North and working in camera, sound, lighting, scenic construction and post-production are invited to a networking event at MediaCityUK on Wednesday 5 October, 6- 9pm, at Salford Quays.
Organised by the BBC and BECTU with the support of The Studios and the Farm, this is an opportunity for this section of the freelance community to hear about developments at MediaCityUK, to meet up with colleagues and to make new contacts.
A mix of presentations is planned and there will be the opportunity to talk technology too.
To register your interest in attending email: [email protected] no later than Monday 26 September. Places will be confirmed by 29 September.
BECTU officials Helen Ryan and Jo Livesey have worked closely with the BBC to organise the evening; if successful, it could be the first in a regular series offering groups of freelances the opportunity to come together to learn more about MediaCityUK and productions which will be commissioned from the site.
The BBC is in the process of relocating several departments to Salford Quays; 700 staff are expected to be in place by the end of 2011 rising to 2500 by 2015.
