JVC digital network technology used for 'London Day' webcast
JVC have played a major part in the annual 'London Day' event held at Tate Modern.
One GY-DV300 'streamcorder', one VN-C30U networking camera and two GD-V 4210 42" plasma monitors were used to allow guests to film the cultural event and see images instantly displayed both locally and via broadband internet. The images were available via a live streaming broadcast via the NTL World website.
This was the first occasion on which images from JVC's latest wireless and webcam equipment and monitors were used in conjunction with new NTL broadband technology.
The 'London Day' celebrations, organised by the Greater London Authority (GLA), saw the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, pay tribute to individual Londoners and their contribution to the capital.
Martin Parry of JVC's project management team set up the equipment for the event said: "The idea was for the guests to create their own art, by shooting the scenes around the gallery as they saw them. Because the JVC cameras generate streaming output directly it was easy to create the live and interactive webcast on the night."
Recently launched in the UK, the GY-DV300 streamcorder uses JVC's proprietary streaming adapter to connect to a network in internet format for display. The GY-DV300 is a fully functional broadcast-quality professional camera in its own right, as well as being capable of meeting the demands of critical users in streaming and wireless applications.
The VN-C30U camera is compact and designed specifically for network-based imaging. The camera features a built-in web server that allows connection directly to networks and the internet.
The GD-V 4210 42" plasma monitor features super-bright colours and has a wide-viewing angle of 160 degrees. Monitors were mounted for public viewing, so that guests shooting the exhibits themselves became another exhibit.
JVC Professional markets and supports a complete line of broadcast and professional production and presentation equipment, including cameras, VTRs, editing equipment, D-ILA projectors, visual presenters, monitors and computer products.
