Schedule 2 Turns To Dubbs Database Solutions
Dubbs and Eyeframe, a leading Digital Media and Post Production facility, has announced that its Database Solutions division has developed and installed a bespoke database for Schedule 2, a leading technical services and post-production consultancy for the film industry.
Schedule 2 has a vast amount of information to keep track of, including multiple layers of contacts and numerous delivery requirements for every individual project. The company turned to Dubbs Database Solutions to create a database that would suit its needs immediately, and that could be extended easily as the company's requirements developed in the future.
Dubbs Database Solutions has been developing bespoke databases, primarily for media companies, for over a decade. In 1996, Dubbs had a growing need for a database that could manage the specific requirements of a media company, such as complex project tracking, library systems and bookings.
The company could not find an off-the-shelf database that met its needs so decided to create its own, utilising Filemaker software. Gradually, clients noticed how powerful yet intuitive the system was, and asked whether Dubbs would create a similar version for them. Since then, media companies including Momentum Pictures, PPC and Premier PR have commissioned Dubbs Database Solutions to create individually tailored database systems.
Schedule 2's new database allows users to keep track of every element of a project and automatically links all the information together, making the data much easier to track, manage and report. Another of the key benefits is the system's flexibility and the ability to extend it in a variety of ways; DDS also offers training for system administrators to help them develop their own databases. The database took approximately six weeks from initial briefing to going live, though Schedule 2 was able to start using aspects of the database, while it was still being developed.
Schedule 2's Marco De Rienzo was very involved in the design and layout of the new database. He commented: "The whole process was quick, easy and completely seamless. Even while the database was being developed, we still had access to all our information so we didn't have to stop working. It was also an easy transition for staff to learn how to use the new system, even though they had been using the old database for a long time."
Clive D'Urban, Director of Dubbs Database Solutions, said: "One of the reasons that media companies come to us is that we speak the same language, we understand the kind of data they require and how they need to use it. Because the software is flexible we can tailor each database precisely to an individual company's specification, while also giving them room to develop and grow it as the business changes. Schedule 2's database suits them well now, but they already know that it will need to change in the future. Our solutions gives them the comfort of knowing that it will be easy to do so when the time comes."
