DRG 'Afghan Star' Roast Beef Deal

News Image
A Sundance multi-award winning factual producer has announced it has agreed to a significant first-look and development deal with DRG, the leading international and independent TV distributor.
The announcement builds on the successful partnership between the two companies, which was established in 2008 and has seen DRG distribute a portfolio of Roast Beef's factual programming worldwide.
The distributor currently includes Roast Beef's critically celebrated More4 commissioned documentary's Vote Afghanistan!; which follows the historic and gripping story of the fight for Afghanistan’s Presidency and Afghan Star; the documentary feature-film which in 2009 won the Best Direction and Best Audience award at Sundance for its story of young hopefuls as they compete to become Afghanistan’s next pop idol.
Niki Page, Acquisitions Manager of the C4i brand at DRG said: "Roast Beef are a truly remarkable and talented production team.
"Key to this deal is DRG and Roast Beef's shared values, for creating programming with international appeal and independent direction. DRG is a totally independent distributor, which puts us in the best position for developing and co-funding projects such as Roast Beef's. We are delighted to be extending our relationship with Martin and his team and are already working on several new projects which we hope to announce soon."
Martin Herring, Director of Roast Beef Productions added: "Since partnering with C4i at DRG they have carefully taken our programmes to the best matched broadcasters around the world. Such as Afghan Star which was acquired by more than 55 territories, including HBO in the USA and Arte in France and Germany. The first-look and development news is incredibly significant for our company's ambitions, which is coupled with appointment news that Havana Marking (Director of Afghan Star) is joining Roast Beef as a Board Director and permanent member of our development and production team."
