BBC's 'Bride' Goes Round The World

DRG has confirmed multiple sales across Europe and in Africa for the hit primetime factual entertainment show Don't Tell The Bride, created by Renegade Pictures for BBC Three.
DRG simultaneously announced a further international commission for local production.
Today's latest sales of the BBC version include to RTL (Netherlands), TV4 (Sweden), Nelonen (Finland), TV2 (Denmark), TV2 (Hungary) and BBC Worldwide Channels which has acquired the series for BBC Entertainment in Latin American and BBC Lifestyle in Africa, following its successful broadcast in Asia and Poland and on BBC America.
The UK series is currently also broadcast in primetime by XYZ on LifeStyle (Australia), TVNZ (New Zealand) and NRK (Norway) and distributed to more than 120 territories around the world.
DRG additionally confirmed the format commission by ANT1 TV in Greece which will be produced by Studio Ata, the news follows on from RTE (Eire) pilot broadcast last week which was produced by Coco Television.
Further recent deals include a local version on TV2 (Denmark), which achieved the winning audience share for the commercial broadcaster in primetime. Don't Tell The Bridge is now being produced locally in seven countries worldwide.
Patrick Roberts, SVP of International Sales at DRG, said: "This brilliant show is fast growing into one of the UK's most popular TV exports. At the centre of each instalment is a bridge handing over control to the biggest day of her life, to the least qualified person possible - the groom.
"Every culture around the world has their own idea of a dream wedding and that's what makes this show so universally relevant and surprising, often testing the couples' love to the limit, frequently with hilarious and emotionally charged consequences."
Jon Rowlands, Creative Director at Renegade Pictures, added: "This show is based on my wedding. My bride-to-be was going frantic trying to organise the classic, big white wedding. It was all getting too much. So, one night I foolishly said "let me do it" and even more foolishly she agreed.
"So, six weeks later, we got hitched in a chapel at the end of the strip in Las Vegas! I don't think any woman really wants their man to organise their big day, but if they do, at least they're guaranteed a day they'll NEVER forget. DRG has done a great job with the show. It's a real-life romantic-comedy that lots of people seem to have fallen in love with."
