The Last Word choose Pinnacle Liquid Blue NLE

UK Production Company, The Last Word has purchased Pinnacle Systems Liquid blue NLE for the editing of an episode of ‘Witness’ for Channel 4.
Liquid blue was chosen for this as it delivers high-end output for a much lower price than the nearest competitor. It joins a well-established Liquid Colour stable as The Last Word already has a number of Liquid purples and silvers.
Andrew Gemmell, Managing Director at The Last Word, explained why blue was the favourite for ‘Witness’: “We have been using Liquid colour products for a while now so a blue was a natural extension to our existing equipment.
Also, the budget for Witness was tight and Liquid blue had a good price. However, price and personal preferences were not the only factors, the series editor had to be happy with it as well, and as he had not used blue before he may have preferred to have the equipment he was more familiar with. But we needn’t have worried. When he tried the blue he was very impressed with it because its performance was similar to the other, more expensive system.”
When this episode of ‘Witness’ is complete the Liquid blue will be used in other productions at The Last Word. Gemmell continues: “We do a lot of our own productions here and having a Liquid blue will let us expand our range. Also, we hire out our edit suite and this is the first Liquid blue for hire in the UK. It will be very attractive to editors wanting to make broadcast quality productions on very low budgets.”
Pinnacle Systems’ Liquid blue delivers complete support for every video format, which means no more transcoding and no more degradation by recompression. It delivers the best possible image quality for every project along with the tools needed to create masterpieces. Designed for seamless integration within existing broadcast and post production facilities, Liquid blue supports a variety of network solutions and topologies from simple transfer networks to large storage area networks.
