BBC installs Pinnacle Liquid Fields for staff training

BBC Training & Development (T&D) has chosen Liquid Field lap-tops from Pinnacle Systems for a new training course developed for the BBC’s own staff.
Liquid Field is Liquid Purple NLE software installed on a laptop. The corporation has purchased four systems which will go to the central London training centre where they will be used to give the trainees familiarity with the technology and techniques involved in an edit.
Tim Wallbank, Senior Trainer, BBC T&D, commented: “These new courses are part of the BBC’s investment in its people as they are designed to help them understand what is involved in the technology for programme creation and delivery for radio, television and over the Internet. The Liquid Field laptops will give them hands-on editing experience. The clear displays make is easy for the trainees to see how to do an edit and how to alter it if they change their minds or make a mistake.
“Another advantage of these systems is that they are easy to learn so it doesn’t take long for our trainers to get up to speed.”
Pinnacle Systems Liquid Purple delivers high performance DV and DVCAM editing that combines reliability and performance in an elegant package that fits virtually any budget. It is the ideal desktop solution for broadcast, independent film, education, corporate, and any video professional needing a cost-effective solution for creating dazzling video content. Liquid Purple begins with Pinnacle Liquid, the same intelligent application found on our Liquid blue and Liquid silver solutions.
Unlike typical software editing solutions, Liquid Purple is truly complete. Standard editing features include batch capture, drag-and-drop storyboarding, insert and overlay editing, three point editing, trim editor, audio editor; and much more. It also delivers accelerated DVE, wipe and key editing, plus colour correction, filter editing, slow motion, built in CG and support for third party plug-ins. All effects deliver full YUV sub-pixel quality for pristine images.
Liquid Field is Liquid Purple in a portable, laptop configuration. A full NLE on the laptop, it allows edits to be made anytime, anywhere, and the new version output on the spot. Journalists can edit their stories in the field and deliver the completed package via any high-speed connection - wired or wireless. Liquid Field just may be the most convenient NLE solution ever offered.
