EVS Integration With Tedial Asset Management

EVS Broadcast Equipment, a leader in tapeless solutions for broadcasters and production companies worldwide, has announced that its equipment has been fully integrated with Tedial's asset management systems, Tarsys.
This new integration increases the number of MAM systems, which are currently interfacing with EVS technology. The integrated workflow will be available for demonstration at IBC 2009 at the Tedial stand (C28 in Hall 8).
Tedial's Tarsys is a user-oriented asset management application, which ensures that all content is seen by users as a single archive, no matter where it is stored. At present, Tarsys can be used in conjunction with EVS' content management and editing solutions, such as IPDirector and XEDIO/CleanEdit.
Pierre L'Hoest, Chief Executive Officer of EVS, said: "EVS is pleased to offer broadcasters and producers this new capability in their workflows.
"The combination of Tedial's Tarsys system and EVS instant tapeless technology has already proved to be an efficient solution for broadcasters looking for integrated and reliable media management systems."
The integration between EVS and Tedial was initially developed during the GOL Television project, MEDIAPRO's full HD 24/7 football channel launched in September 2008.
Thanks to this integration production time, including archive browsing, editing and playout is shortened and the workflow process is simplified. The log sheet from the IPDirector, including all descriptive information on the recorded media, is automatically imported in the Tedial MAM, in order to facilitate the browsing, synchronised low-resolution files (in MPEG-4) are generated from the EVS mxf files, which are based on the DNxHD codec.
All of the matches, clips and highlights created by the teas at GOL Television are stored in the EVS central media server, a near-line storage platform based on XTStore(2) SAN architecture for a period of 15 days. The content can then be instantly accessed through the entire network for production, editing and playout using EVS IPDirector and Xedio/CleanEdit NLE stations. The media files that are retained for archiving are compiled and transferred to the Tedial Tarsys MAM systems.
The seamless integration is managed by Tedial's Process Manager Software, which synchronises the MAM and the EVS Xedio/CleanEdit database.
Visitors at IBC 2009 will have the opportunity to see a special demonstration of the EVS-Tedial integration at Stand 8.C28. The demo will include the following applications:
  • Automatic import of the IPDirector Log sheet and transfer of the media from EVS XStore(2) SAN server to Tedial's MAM Tarsys system
  • Instant Media restore on EVS XStore(2) SAN server with Xedio/CleanEdit database updates for fast editing
  • Partial media restore based on "cut" edit done in the Tarsys MAM Client and creation of new media in the Xedio/CleanEdit database
Visit EVS at IBC 2009 at Hall 8 Stand B90 at IBC. Further information is available at: www.evs.tv.
