Thompson becomes Skillset Patron

Mark Thompson, Chief Executive of Channel Four Television, has become a Patron of Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for the Audio Visual Industries.
Thompson recently gave the MacTaggart lecture at this year’s Edinburgh Television Festival.
The role of Skillset Patrons is to influence and vocalise support for its work and is particularly important as Skillset develops its role as one of the first five Sector Skills Councils, recently established by the government.
Thompson said: “The importance of effective and relevant training and of the role Skillset plays in promoting and encouraging it, is one thing everyone in television agrees on. I am delighted to have been invited to play a hands-on role in the development of Skillset and the valuable work it does for the benefit of the whole industry. “
