'Ulysses' to film for five weeks in Dublin

A feature film adaptation of James Joyce's 'Ulysses' is to begin filming on September 22 in Dublin.
The film, which has been in development since 1993, something of a personal odyssey of writer, director and producer Sean Walsh, director of Millbrook Studios in Rathfarnham.
Donal Ruane, the production manager, has been working with Walsh for the last 18 months, and reports that the crew working on the project is first class, especially considering that 'Ella Enchanted', this year's largest production in Ireland, and 'Intermission', the Company of Wolves/Parallel production starring Colin Farrell and Colm Meaney, are both shooting at the same time.
'Ulysses' will be shooting for five six-day weeks in and around Dublin, with VFG Ireland the sole providers of camera, grip and lighting equipment.
Stephen Rea is cast as Leopold Bloom, Angeline Ball as Molly Bloom, and Hugh O'Connor as Stephen Dedalus. These leads committed to the project when it was originally to film last year, and have been able to organise their schedules for the shoot dates this autumn.
