Concrete Posts Grand National BBC Sports Promo

Concrete completed full post-production work for high profile RedBee Media Sports Promo for the Grand National for BBC Sport for BBC One.
Produced by Jim Dezoete and Nicole Coleman and directed by Matt Rhodes at RedBee Media, the promo is designed to promote the next Grand National scheduled for April 4, 2009. The Director of Photography was Nick Bennet.
Concrete was asked to match and composite action from previous Grand National races into specifically shot urban scenes in order to show how horse racing is established nationally.
Senior Editor Matt Hall at Concrete stylishly cut the Red One Camera footage and selected the Grand National footage to match the angles of the shots to create an illusion that the race was reflected in the everyday lives of the nation.
Senior Smoke Artist, Marcus Millichope was responsible for the stunning visual effects in the promo.
David Cox, Senior Compositor, using SGO Mistika graded the piece. They also matched and composited previous footage including reflective surfaces such as race horses appearing in eyes of onlookers, office building windows and rivers mirroring the scenes of horses racing.
The realistic sound effects were created by Dino Sofos at Concrete who combined a mixture of realistic horse noises designed with slowed-down stylised and treated effects in order to give a surreal atmosphere to the piece.
The team at Concrete worked together in unison to provide every aspect of the post production from editing, grading, compositing, visual effects and sound design in a very short space of time.
It aired on BBC ONE from March 28, 2009 until April 4 building up to the Grand National.
