Røde Microphones Deliver For Award-Winning Photojournalist

Over the years, London-based Edmond Terakopian has build an impressive reputation as a leading photojournalist, having been named Photographer Of The Year in the 2006 British Press Awards.
But as newspaper commissioning editors demand more and more video footage for their websites, Terakopian has increasingly started shooting video to supplement his stills photography.
Terakopian's new Canon EOS 5D MkII digital SLR camera offers the facility to shoot both stills and video, but for best audio results he has found an external microphone to be essential, and luckily Canon had the foresight to include an external mini-jack audio input on the EOS 5D camera.
After exhaustive testing, Terakopian decided to partner the camera with the Røde VideoMic shotgun microphone for news gathering, alongside the matching Røde Dead Cat Windshield.
Commenting on his news gathering set-up, Terakopian said: "I love Røde's VideoMic - it's absolutely brilliant and stunning in the quality of its results. To top this, it's also great value for money.
"Considering that you also get a built-in shockmount, it's an absolute bargain. It's the perfect partner for this camera. Its size, its ease of use - it plugs straight in - yes, I'm very impressed by it."
He added: "The features of this camera - particularly its picture quality - lends itself to filmmaking. So, I decided that if I really wanted to test the quality of the video and audio, I should make a proper short film."
The result is Muse, for which Terakopian also employed his Røde NTG-2 shotgun microphone.
Terakopian also found that his Røde accessories worked well. He said: "Parts of London, especially down by the river, can be very breezy and the windshield worked absolutely perfectly. On some scenes for Muse, I used the Røde Mini-Boompole to boom-mount the NTG-2, which also worked very effectively."
