Pioneer Investigates Snow Devastation For Channel 4

Pioneer Productions has received a fast-track commission from Channel 4 to make 'Snowstorm: Britain's Big Freeze', a documentary looking at the UK's extraordinary snowfall in February 2009.
'Snowstorm: Britain's Big Freeze' follows the devastation wrought on Britain after the largest snowfall in 18 years. The film uses a combination of archive footage and interviews with scientists and meteorologists to look at when the country ground to a halt; the film examines this unusual weather, asking what caused it and whether it is a freak occurrence or part of a decades-long cycle of great storms, as well as answering the question on everyone's lips: could Britain have been better prepared? It will TX on February 26.
'Snowstorm: Britain's Big Freeze' builds on Pioneer's position as one of the world's leading producers of weather programming, with previous shows including 'Britain's Worst Weather' (C4), 'The Year the Earth Went Wild' (C4), 'New Orleans: Anatomy of a Disaster' (Nova), 'The Wave That Shook The World' (C4), 'Britain's Tornado' (C4) and 'Tornado Alley' (The Travel Channel) amongst others.

'Snowstorm: Britain's Big Freeze' is executive produced by Stuart Carter for Pioneer Productions and produced and directed by Mike Beckham, Becky Lee and Ian Hunt. It was commissioned by Hamish Mykura for C4.
