Bloody Sunday website launched in advance of film's US release
In advance of the release of Paul Greengrass's controversial film 'Bloody Sunday' in the US on Friday October 4, Paramount Classics have created a "powerful and informative" website giving comprehensive and sometimes contentious information about the film and the filmmakers.
The Film Council's New Cinema Fund invested £299,500 of Lottery money in the film and has seen it win several major prizes including the World Cinema Audience Award at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival, the prestigious Golden Bear at this year's Berlin Film Festival for Best Film, the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at Berlin and the Fantasporto Audience Jury and Directors Week awards.
To date the film has taken approximately £1 million at the Italian box office alone. The film is yet to be released in other major territories worldwide.
Bloody Sunday was broadcast to over 3 million viewers in the UK and has received glowing reviews both in the UK and internationally.
The film represents a major success for the Film Council's New Cinema Fund and Bloody Sunday's other sponsors Granada Film and the Irish Film Board/Bord Scannán na hÉireann.
