Penta Debuts New Precision Quality LCD Displays With IPS Technology At IBC

Penta showed an impressive line-up of their highly successful, reference quality HD2line LCD Monitor Series, of which over 100 were used onsite at the Beijing Olympics.
The new 8.4", 17" and 32" monitors add to the 8 model series, ranging from 6.4" up to 47" LCDs. The new 8.4" monitor is available as a rack-mountable dual monitor bridge, as well as a single display, bringing HD2line quality to smaller dimensions.
Norbert Riesener, CEO of Penta, said: "Our new 17" display is especially designed for broadcasters' transition to 720p.
"It features 1280 x 768 resolution, so that 720p HD signals can be displayed natively and there's still room for displaying dynamic IMD and Tally, which are also new features of the whole HD2line series. The new 17" utilises IPS technology and therefore achieves excellent colour accuracy even at wide viewing angles and therefore is the perfect choice for replacing existing CRT monitors.
Penta is the first manufacturer to offer 3G technology right to the screen with the new 3GBit/s interface card, which allows 1080p 3GBits SDI signals to be used with any HD2line monitor.
Optionally, the 3G interface can be fitted with ab SFP fibre receiver module in order to overcome cable length limitations of 3GBit/s SDI over copper.
There's also a new, user-friendly control GUI, which incorporates many new functions including streamlined operation and management of monitor walls. The drag and drop features enable users to create a visual representation of a monitor wall as well as simplifying input or aspect ratio switching and colour matching.
Broadcasters and post houses all around Europe have installed Penta LCDs for high quality monitoring, the latest being 60 LCDs at NDR in Hamburg for their new PCR 3 control room, which uses the new dynamic IMD and Tally data over Ethernet.
In the UK, BBC TV, ITV and Channel 4 all use Penta quality LCDs as do many top post houses.
