C4i Documentaries Reach Italia Uno

Leading Italian broadcaster Mediaset has acquired a number of human interest documentaries from distributor C4i as part of an ongoing output deal.
For screening later this year on Italia Uno, new titles acquired include 'The Real Superhumans', winner of a Rockie Award at Banff 2008, a ground-breaking feature-length documentary revealing the amazing stories of real people with extraordinary super powers and 'Half Ton Man', the story of American Patrick Deuel, a morbidly obese man, who weights 76 stone.
Also included is 'Aileen - Life and Death of a Serial Killer', an extraordinary film made by the renowned director Nick Broomfield, documenting the trial of Aileen Wuornos, dubbed the world's first female serial killer, featuring astonishing and troubled interviews filmed in prison, just days before her execution and 'The Real Rainman', the story of the extraordinary life of quiet genius Kim Peek.
Completing the deal is the entertaining 'Rude Tube', a top 50 countdown of the funniest, rudest and most bizarre internet clips.
Anne Roder-Botbol, Senior Sales and Co-Production Executive, brokered the deals and commented: "Mediaset has already acquired a range of historical documentaries as part of this output deal for their channel Rete 4, so I am pleased to showcase the broad appeal of our catalogue with the acquisition of these human interest titles for Italia Uno. I am confident that their success with viewers in Italy will see the broadcaster acquiring similar shows in the near future."
Daniela Bagliani, Acquisitions and Co-Productions Manager at RTI SpA-Mediaset, added: "It's in Italia 1's DNA to try new paths and to challenge the audience with new approaches to TV. So it did not come as a surprise when we were asked to find stories that could fit into this newly commissioned human interest slot.
"C4i was the obvious choice - they showcase programmes that are edgy but at the same time seriously well-produced that match the channel's requirements. The slot will also have a local flavour thanks to the hard work of the Studio Aperto News department which is currently researching and shooting Italian stories to complement the films that we have licensed from Channel 4 International."
