Simon Bourne Joins Framestore

Senior Colourist Simon Bourne has joined the award-winning Telecine team at Framestore.
Bourne took up his TK tools at Noel Street at the beginning of August, working alongside Framestore veterans Dave Ludlam and Steffan Perry. Helen Stanley, Managing Director of Commercials, said: "Soho's colourists are a pretty discriminating bunch. So the fact that Simon has always had a very good reputation amongst them means a lot. I am excited that he's joining us - he compliments our team, his work for clients is varied but always with a strong aesthetic appeal, and he is also very charming."
Bourne himself is delighted to be aboard. He said: "I have always admired the work that's come out of Framestore. For me they do the best looking pictures around, so it's an honour to have been invited to join them. I'm greatly looking forward to further developing and raising my game here."
Bourne's working life has always been based in the heart of Soho's multifaceted media world.
A start as a sound projectionist at Malcolm Bristow Studios at the age of 19 fed his love for - and encyclopedic knowledge of - movies.
Five years on, after a brief stint projecting for 20th Century Fox and a year of travelling the globe, he returned to the fray, determined to involve himself more with the visual side of the media world.
It was at Dean Street Post, whilst working as a VT op, that Bourne first met Steffan Perry - at that time a TK Assistant. Bourne recalled: "There was just something about the room Steffan worked in that appealed. The quiet environment, just working away on pictures - I really liked it."
Soon after that, Bourne embarked on his own TK career, which encompassed posts as a Junior Grader at MPC and Colourist at VTR. He has also made himself at home on a broad range of kit over the years, including Lustre, Baselight and Spirit.
Bourne's recent work includes spots for Oasis 'Cactus Kid', Hyundai, Smarties, Kenco and Nintendo DS.
He has worked extensively with Vaughan Arnell, including three spots for a Minute Maid campaign, a Ford Transit spot and promos for Will Young and Charlotte Church. Other work includes Sky idents for Euro 2008, Harrods Sale commercials, spots for David Lodge and Graham Rose, a David Beckham Vodafone commercial and jobs for Andrex, Wall's sausages, Shelia's Wheels and many others.
Head Colourist Dave Ludlam says of Bourne's appointment: "We actively pursued Simon based on the reputation he's built for himself. Also, we think that he's someone who will fit in perfectly at Framestore."
