Seven Chooses Quantel's Newsbox HD For Canberra Parliament House

The Seven Network, Australia's free to air commercial broadcaster, has purchased a Quantel Newsbox HD integrated news production system for its Canberra Parliament House broadcasting operation.
The Newsbox HD in Canberra joins a nationwide network of Quantel systems that power Seven's news and close-to-air operations in Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane.
Seven chose the Quantel solution above competitive offerings on the market for a number of reasons. Trevor Bird, Seven's General Manager of Group Technical Services, said: "Quantel helped us transform our efficiency and speed-to-air when we centralised our operations around our Melbourne hub, which enabled us to retain complete flexibility in each of our regional operations, but also to benefit in full from the power of Quantel's no-wait server technology.
"In use, the systems have been reliable and well-supported, which also gave us added confidence in choosing Quantel again for the new Canberra Parliament operation.
"We also needed to move quickly, and the pre-packaged nature of Newsbox HD and its ease of use mean that we can put it into operation in the very short timescale we've set ourselves."
The Newsbox HD for Seven Canberra is a four-port system with 85 hours of storage. It also includes Quantel's sQ Cut editing applications as well as sQ Record and sQ Play controls, making a complete, self contained news production system from ingest to video/audio editing and playout.
