Leisure Centre Doubles As Film Set

News Image
A Co Antrim swimming pool and leisure centre has been temporarily transformed into a movie set.
With support from Northern Ireland Screen, Green Park Films' Cherry Bomb', written by Armagh man Daragh Caville, completed the latest stage of its production at Newtownabbey's flagship Valley Leisure Centre, near Belfast.
Locally-bred TV star, Coleraine man James Nesbitt and mainland-based Harry Potter star, Rupert Grint (pictured) have been hard at work on the movie shooting scenes for the indie movie at the leisure facility, renamed Titanic Leisureplex for the film.
The film - which follows teenagers Luke, Malachy and Michelle as they embark on a wild weekend of drink, drugs, shop-lifting and stealing cars, sees the characters in a 'game' that turns deadly serious when the three discover that they can't get off the wild ride they've set in motion - is due for release next year.
