Volicon Launches New Observer RPM 100

Volicon, a leading provider of media monitoring, recording, archiving and streaming solutions, has introduced a new entry-level version of its Observer RPM (Remote Program Monitor) system for automated, multichannel signal quality analysis.
The new RPM 100 is targeted to cable MSOs and station groups who need a cost-effective solution for monitoring and analysing signal quality and consumer quality of experience (QoE) at geographically dispersed secondary headends and remote unmanned cable hubs.
The Observer RPM is Volicon's solution for MSOs, independent cable operators, IPTV, and satellite providers looking to automatically evaluate the quality of their NOCs/headends and remote hub broadcasts from a central location. The RPM 100 is a single-channel system that offers a subset of the core RPM functionality for monitoring the signal quality at remote locations.
The RPM 100 can be set to monitor a single channel around the clock, or to continuously scan multiple channels. When the system detects a video or audio fault such as black screen or low audio, it sends an automatic alert to the operator on duty for resolution. The RPM 100 also includes Volicon's new QoE module for automatic detection of macroblocking, a process that traditionally has required human intervention to spot the on-screen anomalies.
Julius Perl, Vice President of Marketing at Volicon, said: "With the RPM 100, we're offering a robust alternative for cost-conscious MSOs who require basic, reliable monitoring and signal verification for a large number of remotely located cable hubs. The RPM 100 was specifically designed to meet these customers' needs by providing the necessary RPM functionality in a smaller, affordable form factor."
The RPM 100 is now available from Volicon's worldwide distributor, JDSU.
Volicon develops and markets turnkey digital video archiving and streaming solutions, including the award-winning Observer multichannel video monitoring and logging system, for the television broadcast and telecommunications industries, cable programmers, cable MSOs and corporate and government markets. More information about the Volicon Observer, the Observer RPM 100 and other Volicon products is available at: www.volicon.com.
