EVS Expands Operations Into Canada
EVS Broadcast Equipment has announced the opening of a new office in Montréal to deal with increasing demand for EVS services in Canada.
Fred Garroy, General Manager of EVS Americas, said: "Canadian broadcasters and production companies have always been an important part of EVS' user base and our relationship with these partners has increased exponentially over the past few years.
"We knew we needed to address this growth by providing our Canadian partners with a more local option for training, demos, and technical support issues."
The first EVS Canada office will be located in Montréal and will be staffed by EVS-trained engineers.
EVS has also announced that Carl Boislard-Lanois, formerly of CBC Radio-Canada, will be the first member of the EVS Canada team, and will be serving as Senior Manager of Products and Systems Integration.
Mr Garroy said: "Carl has been working in broadcasting and production for more than a decade and his comprehensive experience in post-production is particularly important to our team, considering the direction EVS is heading."
Integration with third-party tools has become a key component of EVS equipment lately, especially with news regarding the XT(2) server's native support of new HD codecs.
Mr Boislard-Lanois has also worked extensively with post-production tools from both companies, especially during his past few years as Chief Technician of Post Production at CBC Radio-Canada in Montréal.
He said: "I am very excited about the opportunity to represent EVS in Montréal. I have worked closely with the EVS Americas team in the past, and am looking forward to joining them in their work in Canada."
EVS also said that the opening of the new location was an essential preparation for the company in light of major upcoming events such as the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and the Winter Games in Vancouver, which, it said, would require extensive amounts of technical support and training for Canadian support teams prior to the events.
EVS Broadcast Equipment is a leading company in the design of hardware and software for the production and playout of sport, news and TV programmes in both live and near-live environments.
The company sells their branded products in more than 70 countries and is capable of providing service in any region.
The company has offices in Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, UK, Hong Kong, China and the US.
