UK training body Skillset and production company Magic Light Pictures have launched the Producer Placement Programme, which will put eight up-and-coming producers into a varied series of work placements in key areas of the British Film Industry.
Here they will not only learn, as insiders, what happens in these associated businesses, but what matters to those businesses and why they make the choices and decisions that they do. The Programme builds on the successful pilot scheme run by Samuelson Productions in 2006.
The PPP placements will be augmented by a series of evening master-classes, workshops and 'audiences with' industry personalities, allowing access to the knowledge and experience of key players in the film industry.
Running from May – December 2008 the programme is focussed on the business of the film industry and the operations of companies along the film value chain. As such it is for those who appreciate that they need to gain an understanding of the business processes involved in making films and
enabling those films to reach their audience.
An important feature of the programme is that the trainee producers will each receive a salary during the seven month period and there is no charge for participation.
Application's close midday Friday March 7th. For more information on eligibility and the structure of the programme visit the website
