RDF Media Acquires History Television International

RDF Media has bought History Television International, the company with which it co-produced ‘BBC Monarchy – The Royal Family At Work’, for £700 000.
RDF has previously worked with newly acquired company History Television International (HTI) on ‘The Queen’s Castle’ in 2005.
But it has been the Royal Family series, which generated the most controversy and led to the resignation of BBC 1 controller Peter Fincham and RDF director Stephen Lambert.
The debacle ensued after footage was shown to journalists at a press launch of the Queen apparently storming out of a photo shoot.
It later came to light that the Queen was actually walking into the shoot. Lambert later admitted misediting the footage for a compilation to be shown to foreign buyers at the Mip television market.
RDF’s latest acquisition follows buyups of other indies including IWC Media, Touchpaper Television, Presentable, Radar TV, The Foundation and The Comedy Unit.
In the year to January 31 2007, the RDF group has earned revenues of almost £100m.
RDF was founded in 1933 by chief executive David Frank and floated on the Aim exchange in May 2005. The company now has offices in London, Glasgow, Bristol, Cardiff, Maidstone, New York and Los Angeles.
RDF Media produces a variety of programmes from factual to entertainment like 'Relocation Relocation' and 'Ladette to Lady'.
