Arts Alliance Media and Sony Pictures Television International Sign Da Vinci Deal

Arts Alliance Media (AAM) and Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) have signed a deal allowing users to purchase permanent downloads of Sony films beginning with 'The Da Vinci Code'.
From this week, LOVEFiLM and AOL users will be able to purchase Sony Pictures films including recent hit The Da Vinci Code and other popular titles such as The Legend Of Zorro and Fun With Dick And Jane on a download-to-own (DTO) basis.
Customers will receive three copies of a film: a digital download version for the PC, a copy to play on a portable device and a DVD copy in the post. The deal builds on Sony’s previous download to rent agreement announced earlier in the year.
“Today’s announcement, which is the first DTO agreement we have signed in Europe, represents a critical juncture for us as we seek to expand our distribution sales into new growth areas,” explained Stuart Baxter, executive vp of European distribution at SPTI.
“AAM is pioneering models like this in the UK market and we are already working with them to supply customers with our movies for renting. Groundbreaking services like this will stimulate and grow the electronic delivery of movies in the home market and marks the next exciting phase in the ongoing expansion of our distribution business.”
Added AAM president Mark Livingstone said: “We are excited to be working again with SPTI and to bring more great titles to our download-to-own library, furthering AAM’s reputation as Europe’s leading digital content aggregator.”
