BBC News Chooses Signiant's Digital Media Distribution Management Suite

Signiant has announced that BBC News has chosen Signiant’s Digital Media Distribution Management Suite (DMDMS) to enhance its digital content distribution strategy as the corporation moves further towards complete file-based workflows. The Signiant solution will provide fast, secure content delivery between the broadcaster’s global bureaux and enable the system to handle large media files over internal and external IP networks. The solution also includes a web-based system to collect and prioritise content received from the field.
Signiant’s software is the industry’s only integrated solution that can simultaneously manage, secure, automate and accelerate digital media workflows. It is specifically designed to help rich media content creators and producers easily implement a digital media distribution strategy for their file-based workflows.
The Signiant DMDMS, planned for deployment in March 2008, will be used to connect BBC News’ global bureaux, enabling them to share stories quickly and securely. The web-based content collection component will be handled by the Media Exchange solution within DMDMS. It will ensure a consistent and robust transfer experience, whether sending content via the corporation’s intranet, the public internet or via satellite link. It will also allow the news team to prioritise stories and allocate bandwidth accordingly.
