The new Middlesex Skillset Media Academy, a three-way partnership between the SAE Institute, Middlesex University and Top TV Academy, becomes one of only 17 institutions in the country to gain this recognition.
This status has been awarded by the government for the excellence and forward-looking nature of the media-related courses and education all three partners deliver to their students – and it has been bestowed by the newly formed government Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills.
Matthias Postel, Head of SAE Institute in the UK, said: “SAE is excited to be part of this vibrant partnership. We bring our expertise in audio engineering and digital film production to the table, augmented by Qantm College, our specialist division of games design and 3D animation. We have been a global partner of Middlesex University for the past 10 years and the Skillset partnership is yet another milestone.”
SAE Institute, Middlesex University and Top TV Academy originally got together to bid for Skillset Media Academy status earlier in the year, as did more than 100 other institutions and partnerships around the country.
Of these only 17 were considered to deliver the high standards of media education necessary, as well as leading the development of today’s creative industries with the aim of making sure that the UK has the most talented and skilled media workforce in the world.
Dr Maggie Butt, Head of the Middlesex Skillset Media Academy, commented: “We are extremely proud to be given this seal of approval for our courses. We have always believed that the media education we provide is among the best in the country – now its official”.
Liz Mills, Director of Top TV Academy, said: “Top TV is delighted and excited to be in partnership with Middlesex and SAE, who together are leaders in their field. This new Academy will offer cutting edge opportunities for those entering the industry and open up life long learning for those already established.”
The partnership that now makes up this Skillset Media Academy offers a comprehensive media education along with practical hands-on skills for everyone from beginners to established media professionals. The partners teach traditional Audio and TV production up to pioneering interactive media design – and everything in between.
