Harris Corporation Names Vice President

Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company, has named broadcast industry expert Richard Scott as Vice President, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) operations for Harris Broadcast Communications.
Leveraging the comprehensive Harris product portfolio, Scott will be responsible for continuing to grow the broadcast division’s presence throughout the region.
Before joining Harris, Scott was a senior vice president, systems and technology services, EMEA, at Ascent Media, one of the world’s largest broadcast systems integrators.
While with Ascent Media, Scott led the expansion of a systems integration business into EMEA.
Prior to that, he spent five years as the vice president and managing director of EMEA for Pinnacle Systems, seven years as director at Sony Corporation and eight years as technical director at Panasonic.
"With more than 25 years in the industry, Richard has a superb record of accomplishments and extremely valuable experience in the EMEA region," said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications.
"This appointment underscores our commitment to positioning Harris as a global company that offers exceptional local support to broadcast customers in every area of the world. Richard’s well-established intimacy with the EMEA customer base will enable him to lead our expansion efforts in the region — armed with the new products and systems that our customers need to upgrade media operations for the digital and high-definition build-out."
Scott received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom.
Harris Broadcast Communications offers products, systems and services that provide interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire broadcast delivery chain. The Harris ONE approach brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
