ENPS Installed At CNBC Africa In Record Time

CNBC Africa, the continent’s first 24-hour international business channel, has installed ENPS, AP’s electronic news production system, in a record-breaking six weeks.
The installation was handled by Inala Broadcast, the authorised distributor for ENPS in the region. Prompt completion was ensured by prioritising implementation of the entire MOS (Media Object Server) system, allowing staff to get to grips with a full end-to-end workflow at the earliest opportunity. CNBC also sourced experienced staff from CNBC Arabiya and Pakistan to assist the 37-strong team from Africa with the "Go Live".
With ENPS technology at the heart of the station’s news production environment, integration is enabled with Pebble Beach Automation, Omneon Video Servers, BDL Autoscript teleprompting system, and VizRT real-time on-Air Graphics.
When asked to explain their choice of ENPS, Hasan R. Sayed Hasan, Chief Technical Officer of CNBC Africa, Arabiya and Pakistan, said: "ENPS was selected based on its track record in Newsroom systems installations around the world, and the good experience using it in other CNBC channels such as CNBC Arabiya and CNBC Pakistan. In addition to its user-friendliness and ease of management and operation, an important advantage of ENPS is its openness to work with various systems such as automation, Graphics, prompting systems, and video servers."
CNBC Africa is owned by Africa Business News Limited. Its headquarters are located in Johannesburg, with further offices in Capetown (South Africa), Nairobi (Kenya), Lagos and Abuja (Nigeria). The station offers news and current affairs programmes in English from an African perspective, as well as regular updates from CNBC affiliates around the world, including Europe, Asia and the US. The station can be found on Multichoice DStv channel 54 and is broadcast via the Sentech Vivid ‘free-to-air’ satellite platform across Africa.
Helping co-ordinate broadcast production, from story assignments to live broadcasts, in more than 670 newsrooms in 48 countries, ENPS was designed to meet rapidly evolving needs in modern television, radio and network environments.
Powerful, easy-to-use features include the industry's only fully integrated search engine, scripting, programme line-ups, planning, contacts, messaging, news wire management, third-party device control, and off-line and remote access capabilities for field staff.
ENPS also supports the AP-inspired MOS protocol, the industry standard for integration of media servers and editors, character generators, still store devices, and a variety of news production equipment and systems.
