Red Planet Pictures Searches For Screenwriting Stars

Red Planet Pictures is showing an ongoing commitment to finding new screenwriting talent by creating an annual prize for the best and the brightest. The judging panel will consist of Tony Jordan, Julie Gardner (head of Drama Wales and drama commissioning at the BBC), writer and actor Mark Gatiss (The League of Gentlemen, Dr Who), and Stephen Fry.
The winner will receive:

• £5000
• Agency representation
• A script commission from Red Planet Pictures

Six finalists will spend a workshop day with Tony Jordan and receive mentoring from the Red Planet team.
The entry should consist of no more than 10 pages of your screenplay. You should also include a half page about yourself and a half page synopsis of your story.
All entries must be in English but the competition is open to non-UK residents. Entries must be original and the sole property of the applicant. The full screenplay can be of any length and any genre but must be presented in an accepted screenplay format. Should your entry make it through to the next round of judging you will be asked to submit the full screenplay.
The closing date for entries is September 1 2007. Full scripts for those who've made it through the first round will be requested by Red Planet Pictures in October 2007.
The final short listed candidates will be contacted in December 2007 for a workshop day and the winner will be announced following the workshop.
